Below are the details for the “Help a Poet” Giveaway on Instagram.
Instead of paying Big Tech to advertise my poetry, I want to pay some of you who’ve come across this while doomscrolling. On June 21, 2026, three random persons who have engaged by June 20, 2026 with the post “Ad Two” (on Instagram) will be randomly chosen to receive $100 each.
Each individual can have FIVE entries maximum in the giveaway total. You can earn an entry by doing the following actions (for one entry each):
1. Liking the post for “Ad Two.”
2. Tagging someone in a comment for the “Ad Two” post and telling them about the ad/podcast/giveaway (e.g. “check this podcast out, @Roger!”) will create an entry for both yourself AND the tagged individual for the giveaway, if they then “like” or reply to the tag*.
3. Reposting “Ad Two” on Instagram.
4. Commenting one of your favorite lines/moments from one of my podcast episodes (can be combined with a tagged post to create two entries for the comment instead of just one). Episodes are about seven minutes long, often much shorter.
5. Joining my email list by dm-ing me your email with a message “I want to join your email list” or something like that.**
To be eligible to win, you must be a human (e.g. an independent artist). Corporations and companies will be ineligible***. You also must have Venmo, as this will be my method of paying you. You must also accept**** the prize so that I can actually send it to you via Venmo.
*Anyone randomly chosen can choose to reject the prize money, and will automatically be disqualified after a week if they have not accepted it and have not provided a Venmo account to send the prize money to by June 28th, 11:59pm. Once they are disqualified, they cannot be reinstated if a new winner has been chosen in their place. The new winner will then have a full week to accept the prize and provide a Venmo account to send the prize money to as well, and so on.
**I have no emailing program at this time, but I would like to build an email list to be able to reach interested persons (no matter what platform I’m using to share my poetry).
***The use of harassment, hate speech or dehumanizing language (or plain just being rude) on my posts may disqualify you from being eligible to win as well, as that is a basic standard for participating in this community. You will likely also be blocked. If you have been selected as a winner and afterwards violate these standards, then unsent prize money will be cancelled and a new winner will be selected.
****If for any reason prize money is unable to be awarded to an individual, a new recipient will be randomly chosen from the pool of eligible entries until a qualified recipient accepts and provides their Venmo.
